eVisitorPass Installation Guide



NOTE: This Installation Guide is intended for use by Visitor Pass Solutions Tech Support.  However, many of our customers successfully install eVisitorPass with this guide.

Requirements:
  • Windows 7, 8 or 10 computer.  If you have XP click here for instructions. 
  • High speed Internet connection.  1MB or better up and down recommended.
  • Administrative rights on your computer.  Get help from your IT department if necessary. 
  • Account and password (or use our free demo account).  Our helpful Technical Support will
    create your VMS account.
  • Network access to our servers.  more info.
  • Label printer and labels.
  • Optional Equipment as desired.  more info.




Prepare:
  • Tech support personnel will remote into your computer to assist with the installation.
  • Restart your computer to be sure all documents are saved and all applications are closed.
  • Click here to bring up www.FastSupport.com
  • Follow the prompts to start it up
  • Enter your name and the 9 digit number you get from Tech support.
  • You may need to disable your virus protection.  This has not been necessary very often.






1. Install barcode font
  • Click here to download
  • Select Open
  • Click Install
  • Close font window



2. Install eVisitorPass software
  • Goto the eVisitorPass install page
  • Click Install
  • Click Run
  • Install any the "CLR Types for SQL" and  "Report Viewer" if they need to install.
  • eVisitorPass installs an icon on the current users desktop.



3. Start eVisitorPass
  • Startup eVisitorPass by clicking on the desktop shortcut
  • or goto www.eVisitorPass.com and click on the "eVisitorPass Login" button
  • Logon with your Account and Password

  • or call us at the number above to schedule a training session.











Optional equipment:



5. Install DYMO printer
    Black and White DYMO printer (standard)
  • NOTE: DON'T load the software from the CD that came with the printer.  It has unnecessary software.
  • Install the appropriate Dymo printer driver.  (32-bit)     (64-bit)
  • Load labels into printer as instructed.  Note: labels load and print upside down. ( DYMO LabelWriter Manual)
  • Plug printer into wall
  • Plug USB cord into printer and into computer 
  • Verify in "Devices and printers" that the DYMO printer shows up.   This can take several minutes.
  • If you have problems with the DYMO driver installing (click here).

  • Set the printer print density to "light":
    • Start, Devices and Printers, r-click, Printing Preferences, Advanced
    • Graphic: Print Quality = "300 X 300"
    • Printer Features: Print quality = "Text Only"
    • Printer Features: Print density = "Light"



6. Install the Turbo Driver's License Reader
  • Plug it into a USB port and let windows install the driver.
  • Use these barcodes to configure the Reader (Click here for details)


7. Install Camera
  • NOTE: DON'T load the software from the CD that came with the camera.  It has unnecessary software.
  • Unpack and setup the camera (more info)
  • Plug it into a USB port, and let windows install the driver.
  • If the webcam software did not download, get it from here. Select Downloads, Download Software.



8. Install the Photo Driver's License Reader
  • Download the drivers here (click here)
    • Select DL, Biz Card, SDK
    • Select Express
    • Select 800DX and 800DXN
  • You do NOT need the included power cord, just the USB cord.
  • Plug scanner USB into computer and allow the drivers to install automatically. 
  • Be sure you calibrate the reader before completing the eVisitorPass installation
    • A calibration card comes with the Reader.  If you need another one, you can download a PDF of it here (download)  (download 2-sided)
  • Clean the Driver's License Reader before use by using the enclosed cleaning sheet.  Retain the cleaning sheet for future use.



9. Install the Basic Driver's License Reader
  • Plug it into a USB port and let windows install the driver.
  • Use these barcodes to configure the Reader (Click here for details)



10. Install the Sign-out Scanner
  • Plug it into a USB port and let windows install the driver.
  • Reset to factory defaults (click here)



11. Install the Color Primera printer
  • Note: DON'T load the software from the enclosed CD.  It has unnecessary software.
  • Get the Primera LX400 PC Printer Driver: (click here for ver 1.35)   (or get the latest from primera's site)
  • Set Printer sensor to ( 2" ?) (click here).
  • Start, Devices and Printers, r-click on Color Label 400, Printing Preferences
  • Set Custom Page Size, Inches.
    • 4" badges:  Width=245, Height = 385 (width+ moves it down, height+ moves it right)
    • 3" badges:  Width = 205, Height= 260
  • Set Orientation to Landscape
  • Set Print Quality to 2 or 3 (start with 2 for speed).
  • Set Ink Saturation to between 70% and 90%.  Start with 80% and adjust as needed.
  • If under "printer properties" there is a button that says "Change Properties", then there is a problem with the driver.  It needs to be reinstalled under that account.
  • You can try "Print Test Page" to see if windows can access the printer.
  • To let all users use the printer: (you must be logged in as admin for the 3rd step)
    • C:\Windows\system32\spool, r-click properties on the Printer folder, Security, users=full control
    • C:\ProgramData, r-click properties on PTI folder, Security, users=full control
    • Start, Control Panel, Devices and Printers, r-click Printer Properties, Security, Everyone= allow all


12. Install for multiple logons on the same computer

  • eVisitorPass supports multiple users (profiles or logons) on the same computer.
    • eVisitorPass installs saperately to each user. 
    • Windows printers are also installed separately for each user.

  • Once eVisitorPass is setup for the first user, do this to install for other users on the same computer:
    • Logon to the computer as the new user
    • Go to www.eVisitorPass.com
    • Click on the "eVisitorPass Logon" button
    • This will put a eVisitorPass icon on the user's desktop, and will startup eVisitorPass

  • If you are using a sign-out scanner, set the printer to "light" as described in the Quick Start Guide.
